The journey of Sherbourne Recycling started as far back as 2016 when some councils in the West Midlands wanted to reapproach how their recycling was processed, and mitigate some of the risks associated with the industry. Though years of hard work, researching, forecasting, and engaging with various markets, Sherbourne Recycling was incorporated (in 2021). It was then it appointed partners to build the recycling facility, and install the technologies. Once this work was complete, commissioning and performance testing of the site began (in 2023). Later that same year, the first council was depositing recycling to site and by the end of 2023, all eight were. April 2024 saw commissioning and testing successfully completed, and two new customer councils come aboard, as Sherbourne Recycling grew. In April 2025, Sherbourne celebrated its first year as a fully operational facility, and is excited to see what the next chapter holds.
